All children are given the opportunity to experience a variety of musical activities which includes performing, composing, listening and appraising. The children explore how music is produced and created with a focus on pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.
We provide a cross-curricular approach to music and use whiteboard displays for all lessons with audio, graphics, movies and slide shows. The child listen to music of different genres and from different periods of time in history with reference to major composers. During our whole school theme which is centred on a country every spring, the children listen to live music and join in musical workshops
The school encourages lots of singing right from the nursery. It is an important part for us of being together as a whole school. They use this skill during concerts and Class Assemblies as well as in the local Infant School singing festival in the summer.
We have a school choir which enjoys performing throughout the year.
