At Limes Farm Infant School and Nursery we have designed our curriculum so that it is diverse and offers pupils access to different cultures and topics across a range of different subjects.
Children are taught about significant figures from black and ethnic minority backgrounds throughout the year. Learning about different cultures is embedded across the curriculum rather than focused on in one month.
We teach the children that history helps us understand how events in the past made things the way they are today. With lessons from the past, we not only learn about ourselves and how we came to be, but also develop the ability to avoid mistakes and create better paths for our societies. We celebrate our differences!
We will however highlight and celebrate Black History Month in October as an additional celebration through song, assemblies and lesson discussions. We will also be having a diversity day on Friday to celebrate and promote our different cultures and to raise awareness of our rich, beautiful and diverse world.
