Reading Initiative!

At Limes Farm Infant School and Nursery we want to celebrate your child reading at home. Our goal is to develop a pleasure for reading and motivate children so that they want to read. Reading is the most powerful tool we can give to a child. The benefits of reading are enormous. Some of these include developing vocabulary, curiosity, understanding of the world and the fun and enjoyment that stories bring.

To encourage a love of reading we have our own reading incentive. If your child reads at home 4 or more times a week they will be given a class raffle ticket. They can earn one ticket every week. The more tickets they have in the raffle the more chance they have of winning. At the end of each half term every class will pull out 2 raffle winners. These children will both receive a brand new book to enjoy reading. In addition to this each child that is regularly reading at home will receive a reading certificate at the end of each half term.

To show that your child is reading at home please record what your child has read in their reading diaries. These should be in school everyday along with your child's reading book.
