Monday:

Friday:

Recap the sounds you have learned (s, a, t, p). Can you think of any words around the house that start with this sound? Go on the 'initial sound hunt', e.g., sound 's' - spoon, stairs, etc. or you could play 'I spy with my little eye something beginning s'...

In Set 1, the first four letters are introduced and seven words can be used for segmenting and blending (writing and reading):

at, a, sat, pat, tap, sap, as

You can play free online games for Phase Two of the Letters and Sounds phonics programme. In these games you need to click in the top row to show a letter card, then click in the bottom row to show a picture. If the letter matches the initial sound of the object in the picture then you have found a match. If not you can keep trying until you match all the cards.

 

Literacy:

This week we will be focusing on the book 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell. 

Read the book ‘Owl Babies’, if you do not have it you can access the story here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPQRiSTYFHo

  • Create a story map of ‘Owl Babies’ pick the important parts of the story and draw pictures that you can use to retell the story. Use initial sounds to label the pictures, e.g., 's' for Sarah, 'p' for Percy, 't' for tree, etc.
