  • Weekly Monday Update - Home Learning

    Mon 13 Apr 2020

    This week's top websites are as follows;

    https://plprimarystars.com/resources

    and

    https://www.getset4pe.co.uk/  (Please check out their Facebook Page)

    The first website is Premier League Primary Stars. It uses the inspiration of sport to connect pupils’ learning to the world around them.

    There are a range of resource packs which have been made accessible without sign in,  for those learning at home. They have the title 'Home learning'.

    The second website is all about keeping healthy with

    fun and easy ways to help your children stay active at home.

    Get Set 4 PE are posting daily activities to help your families stay healthy and active during Covid-19. Please look at their website and Facebook account.

  • Weekly Monday Update - Home Learning

    Mon 06 Apr 2020

    Every Monday, we will be uploading some useful websites and resource, to support Home Learning.

    As we are now coming up to Easter, there are many fun activities that can be completed at home. Remember, you must take a break and enjoy yourselves as best you can.

    That being said, the latest website we found helpful is;

    https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/

    Here, you can find lots of help with Maths for each year group. There are brilliant activities and learning screens to support both you and your children.

    Also, please take a look at;

    https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/

    Here, you can login using the free details and have access to Phonics learning materials and lots of fun games. The children often enjoy these games in school.

    Finally, our final tip this week is to look at the website Espresso.

    https://www.discoveryeducation.co.uk/what-we-offer/discovery-education-espresso

    The school has a subscription which enables children to login from home. The login details are as follows;

    Username: student12139

    Password: limesfarm

    Please keep an eye out for next week's update and any new Online Safety Information.

  • Using the app Zoom - Keeping Safe

    Fri 03 Apr 2020

    If you are using Zoom to communicate in these hard times, please be aware that there are some ways in which your chat can be hacked by others. It’s called, ‘Zoom Bombing’.

    The problem stems from Zoom’s policy that

    “The host does not need to grant screen share access for another participant to share their screen.”

    However, hosts can disable this option in their settings or the Admin controls of a call. You can either change this in your pre-meeting Settings or in the in-call admin settings for Share Screen -> Advanced Sharing Settings.

    Anyone publicly sharing Zoom links where they could be discovered by trolls, like on Twitter, should be sure to change screensharing to “Host Only” before a call starts or as soon as they see the feature being abused. Other ways to protect your Zoom calls include:

    • Disable “Join Before Host” so people can’t cause trouble before you arrive.
    • Enabling “Co-Host” so you can assign others to help moderate.
    • Disable “File Transfer” so there’s no digital virus sharing.
    • Disable “Allow Removed Participants to Rejoin” so booted attendees can’t slip back in.

  • NHS Rainbows For Nightingale – Fake News

    Fri 03 Apr 2020

    It seems that many people with young children have received a message asking them to send pictures of rainbows so that they can be used to decorate the new temporary hospital.

    It’s become apparent that this is all from a fake Facebook page and the NHS have no part in what’s been requested. In fact, this would introduce a huge amount of germs to the hospital, let alone take a lot of valuable time to sort the issues out.

    We are sorry to be the bearers of bad news as we know everyone’s first thoughts would be to do whatever we can to help.

    Latest NHS advice suggests the pictures can be posted online using the hashtag   #RainbowForNightingale
