Week Beginning 11/01/21

Monday 11th January 2021

This week we will be start looking at the history of flight and Space. You will learn all about how flight has changed, starting at the beginning with hot air balloons, then came areoplanes, followed by helicopters and the most modern flight invention, rockets!

Use https://www.cbc.ca/kidscbc2/the-feed/4-fun-facts-about-hot-air-balloons to find out some interesting facts about hot air balloons. You could also use other websites, look at pictures or watch videos of them on youtube too!

Write down some interesting facts on the sheet provided or on a piece of paper. You could even draw me a picture of one! You could use these questions to help you think of some facts. When was it made? Where was it made? Who flew in the hot air balloon first? Would you like to fly in one? Why?

When writing your facts please remember to use phonics to sound out words, leave finger spaces, start sentences with capital letters and end them with a full stop. When you have finished read your work back to make sure it makes sense.

Recap this week’s learning about the different ways of flying.

What came first? What came next? Why did they make this? Why is it important? What does it help us do?

Show a timeline, (explain that timelines help us to put things in order). Similarly, to a number line. It goes in order, when something happens first it goes at the beginning and when it happens last it goes at the end.

The children can use the sheet to cut and stick the methods of flying in order or they could draw lines on the screen to where they should go.

Thank you for all being brilliant researchers this week, we hope you have learnt lots of interesting facts!
