This week we will be looking at a new story!
English Task
This week we are going to look at a story but, we are not going to begin reading it today! I would like your child to do some detective work first.
Please see the worksheet below. The character’s name is Bob. I would like your child to look carefully at him and think about who Bob could be? Are there any clues in the picture to tell us who he is? What he likes? What he might do?
Today, your child is going to write a character description of Bob that tells me what he looks like, what they think he does and why. Remember, there is not a right or wrong answer we are guessing! Please help them to complete the worksheet.
Remember to use your sounds, capital letters, finger spaces and use the sentences starters at the bottom of the sheet to help you.
Today we are going to find out what Bob does!
English Task
Begin by discussing who Bob is and what they can remember from yesterday. Today we are going to listen to the story, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt5zQ1UO6rE
Discuss Bob’s unusual job! WOW! Would they like to do his job?
Now think about and discuss what Bob would need to take with him. What would he need? Why would he need these things?
Today your child is going to draw the things that Bob should take in his suitcase and write a few sentences about what he should take and why.
Please remember to use your sounds, capital letters, finger spaces and use the sentences starters at the bottom of the sheet to help you.
The Man on the Moon!
English Task
Today we are going to look at Bob’s morning routine. What can your child remember from the story? Who was in the story? What happened first? How did it end? Listen to the story again, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt5zQ1UO6rE.
What does Bob do first? Emphasis the time connectives, next, what does he do? Then….? After…? Actions can be used if this will help them remember the order of which Bob does things.
Today, please support your child in writing sentences about Bob’s morning routine. When Bob wakes up what does he do first? Then? Next? Please help them to complete the worksheet and go back through the story if needed. Please remember to use your sounds, capital letters, finger spaces and the time connectives at the bottom of the sheet to help you.
The Man on the Moon!
English Task
Recap what happens in the story and listen to it again. What creatures are hiding? Why are they hiding? Can Bob see them?
Today we are going to create our own aliens! What will your alien have? Would it speak our language? What would it be called? What colour would it be? How many eyes/arms/legs would it have?
Use the worksheet to draw your alien, do not forget to use adjectives in your sentences to tell me all about your alien! Please remember to use your sounds, capital letters, finger spaces and the sentence starters at the bottom of the sheet to help you.
